Yershichsky District (Russian: Ершичский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the twenty-five in Smolensk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the south of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,039.00 square kilometers (401.16 sq mi).[1] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Yershichi.[1] Population: 7,102 (2010 Census);[3] 8,859 (2002 Census);[6] 11,544 (1989 Census).[7] The population of Yershichi accounts for 44.6% of the district's total population.[3]
