WRCN-FM (103.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk format. Licensed to Riverhead, New York, it began broadcasting in 1962 under the WAPC-FM call sign.[3] The station serves the eastern Long Island area. Over the years some respected names have spent time at this heritage former classic rocker including Bob Buchmann, Tom Calderone, Dee Snider, Zach Martin, Marc Coppola, Chris King, Matt Mangus, Kaptain Kevin, David Race, Bob Goodman, John Loscalzo, Zena Black, Joe "JT" Thomas, Rocky, Tim Sheehan, Rich Fisher, Drew Kenyon, Tony Paige and Chaz & AJ.[4] The station is currently owned by JVC Media LLC.
On August 27, 2012, WRCN-FM shifted their format to mainstream rock, under the "Rock of Long Island" slogan.[5]
On November 15, 2013 at 5pm, WRCN-FM's rock format came to an abrupt end as the station temporarily changed formats to Christmas music. The station, going by the temporary name of "Christmas 103.9" then flipped to Conservative News/Talk as LI NewsRadio 103.9 on December 26, 2013.[6]
