The Tri-College Consortium consists of three private liberal arts colleges in the Philadelphia suburbs: Bryn Mawr College, Haverford College, and Swarthmore College.[1][2] The consortium allows students to cross register for courses at the other colleges. Bryn Mawr and Haverford enjoy an especially close relationship. The two schools share a student newspaper and radio station, and they have a fairly integrated student life. Also, there is a bus that transports students from campus to campus.

The purpose of a consortium is to provide the specialization, flexibility and personal attention commonly found in a small college, with the resources of a larger university. Other consortia include the Claremont Colleges in California, Five College Consortium in the Amherst, Massachusetts area, and the Quaker Consortium, which joins the Tri-College with the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
