Stefano Sollima (born 4 May 1966) is an Italian director and screenwriter.
Life and career
Born in Rome, Sollima is the son of the director and screenwriter Sergio Sollima.[1][2] He started his career as a camera operator realizing numerous reports from war zones for several television networks, including CNN, CBS, and NBC.[2]
In 1992 Sollima debuted as a director with the short film Grazie, which was awarded at the Turin Film Festival. His following short films were selected in important festivals, including Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film Festival and Sitges Film Festival.[2]
Active as a television director since 1998, he had his breakout in 2008, thanks to the critical success of the Sky Cinema series Romanzo criminale – La serie.[1][2] In 2012 Sollima made his feature film debut with the crime-drama ACAB – All Cops Are Bastards, which got him a David di Donatello nomination for best new director.[3] Sollima is the creator and main director of the TV-series Gomorrah.[1][2]
