Slug name

"Slug" is a term used occasionally in the entertainment business as a substitution for "prototype", and can be used to describe a character's name when it is only tentatively assigned, hence the term "slug name". Slug names are almost always limited to use in stages of early pre-production, in situations where the name for a given character has not been officially decided upon whether for aesthetic reasons or, when applicable, due to licensing issues.
