Santa Maria Maior (English: Saint Mary Major) is a Portuguese parish of the municipality of Lisbon. The population in 2011 was 12,822,[1] in an area of 3.01 km².[2] The new freguesia covers part of the old city centre, including the neighbourhoods of Alfama, Baixa and part of Bairro Alto.

The parish was created by the administrative reorganization of Lisbon on 8 December 2012,[3] from the incorporation of other 12 old small parishes: Mártires, Sacramento, São Nicolau, Madalena, Santa Justa, , Santiago, São Cristóvão e São Lourenço, Castelo, Socorro, São Miguel and Santo Estevão.

The official name of the freguesia comes from Santa Maria Maior de Lisboa, the cathedral of Lisbon.
