Sébastien Pocognoli (born 1 August 1987) is a Belgian international footballer who plays professionally for English club West Bromwich Albion, as a left back.

Early and personal life
Born in Seraing, Pocognoli is of Italian origin.[2]
Club career
Pocognoli began his career with the youth team of Standard Liège, but he left at the age of 15 to join Genk.[2] He was a regular for the club during the 2006–07 season.[2]
In June 2007 he signed a five-year deal with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.[3]
In January 2010 he returned to former club Standard Liège.[4][5]
In January 2013 he moved to German club Hannover 96.[6] He was sent off on his debut for the club.[7]
In July 2014 he signed for English club West Bromwich Albion.[8]
International career
Pocognoli played youth football for Belgium at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 level.[9] He was a squad member at the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.[2] He also played at the 2008 Summer Olympics, making 6 appearances at the tournament.[10] He made his debut for the senior team in 2008,[1] and he has appeared in FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.[10] While playing for the national team in 2009, Pocognoli was involved in a dressing room altercation with teammates Timmy Simons and Stijn Stijnen.[11]
