Riley Emmerson (born February 7, 1986 in Burnaby, British Columbia) is a former Canadian Ice Hockey Left Winger who was most recently the player-coach of the Edinburgh Capitals of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). He was drafted by the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League in the seventh round (199th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.[1]

On October 4, 2012, Emmerson was assigned by the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League to the Missouri Mavericks, its Central Hockey League affiliate.[2]

On September 19, 2013, Emmerson signed with the St. Charles Chill of the Central Hockey League[3] though he was released before the season began.[4] Emmerson then tried out with the Springfield Falcons before signing the San Francisco Bulls in the ECHL.[5] On November 26, 2013 he was claimed off waivers by the Ontario Reign.[6] Emmerson was scoreless in 22 games before he returned to the CHL with the Arizona Sundogs.

On August 8, 2014, Emmerson began his European career in agreeing to a one-year contract with the Scottish club, Edinburgh Capitals, of the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League.[7] In his first season with the Capitals, Emmerson quickly became a fan favourite, putting up a career-high 32 points in 50 games. It was announced on 14 April 2015, that Emmerson would re-sign with the Edinburgh Capitals, replacing Richard Hartmann as the club's player-coach for the 2015-16 season.[8]

Emmerson decided to step down from his position as Edinburgh player/coach in 2016, and retire from the game.[9]
