Redhakhol is a town and a notified area committee in Sambalpur district in the Indian state of Odisha.
Geography

History

During the British Raj era, Rairakhol was the capital of Rairakhol State, one of the several princely states of the Eastern States Agency. It had been a feudatory state to Bamra until the 18th century.[2][3]
Location
National Highway 42 passes through Redhakhol. It is around 67 km south of Sambalpur, the district headquarters.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[4] Redhakhol had a population of 13,722. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Redhakhol has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 55%. In Redhakhol, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
