Poonam Pandey is an Indian model and film actress, known for her works in Bollywood and Telugu cinema. She began her career as a model. She became one of the Top nine contestants of Gladrags - 2010, and appeared on the cover page of the fashion magazine. She shot for 29 calendars for the year 2011, including the Gladrags Calendar. She was featured in Kingfisher Calendar 2012.

Media spotlight

She rose to media spotlight when she promised to strip for the Indian cricket team if it won the Cricket World Cup in 2011. India indeed lifted the World Cup; however, Poonam couldn't fulfill her promise initially due to tweets of her second guessing her decision, but later claimed as she was denied permission by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI). In 2012, she posed naked after Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 5. Pandey has received a lot of coverage over explicit pictures of herself that she has posted on her Twitter account. She was reported to have performed at a New Year's Eve bash in Hyderabad in 2014.

Film career

In 2013, she was the female lead of the film Nasha, a teacher who ends up having a sexual relationship with one of her students. While Rediff stated that she "excels as a seductress" in the role, the Mumbai Mirror stated she "does not play seductresses but a proper, responsible drama teacher" and that "Pandey makes an effort but isn't quite there".

The posters for the film, which featured her "clad in nothing, but two placards tactfully placed to cover her body", angered people and a group of protestors tore the posters and set them on fire on 20 July 2013 in Mumbai. The general secretary of Shiv Sena Chitrapat has objected to Pandey's skin showing in the advertisements, saying, "We find the poster highly vulgar and derogatory and won't allow such hoardings." In March, 2014, she has signed a film which will be directed by Sameer Sharma. She has signed to star in the planned sequel, Nasha as Anita.
