Parabellum is an alternative rock and French punk band which formed in 1984.

Origin of name

The name of the band comes from the Latin adage Si vis pacem, para bellum (If you want peace, prepare for war).

Bibliography

Parabellum formed on March 8, 1984. They separated after their Canadian tour on June 16, 1991.

In 1998 they regrouped and produced two new albums. In 2005 they completed a national tour through the end of July in Montreal.

Parabellum wrote an updated version of the long-forgotten anarchist song Cayenne.

Influences

The music used in the song Saturnin (1988), in the Parabellum compilation, and resued in the song Lies (1997) is from the band Cock Sparrer.

One can also compare Anarchie en chiraquie (1988) to Rock You Like a Hurricane (Scorpions, Love at First Sting, 1984).
