Nur (Persian: نور, also Romanized as Nūr, Nour, and Noor; formerly, Sūldeh and Sūlehdeh)[1] is a city in and capital of Nur County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 21,806, in 6,164 families.[2]
Overview
Located on the Caspian Sea coast, Nur is one of the oldest cities of west Mazandaran Province.[citation needed] It derives its name from Nur County, of which it is the administrative seat.
Nur is the ancestral home of Bahá'u'lláh, founder of the Bahá'í Faith.[3]
