Muling Umawit ang Puso? is a 1995 Filipino film and an official entry to the 1995 Metro Manila Film Festival. This is the story of a popular singer-actress (Aunor) who went into seclusion after the traumatic experience of watching her pregnant sister die in the wake of a stampede of her fans. Nearly twenty years later she took in a young girl who wanted to be a star and tried to mold her into a copy of what she was before. With her she also picked up the pieces of the life she placed on hold and now was wishing to resume not as the star she was but as an involved caring and loving person.[1]
Winner of 8 awards at the 1995 Metro Manila Film Festival (including Best Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress).
Synopsis
a story of a once-famous actress now struggling to regain her popularity but fails. With the arrival of her niece (Donna Cruz), her plans of staging a comeback suddenly come to life with her presence. In the midst of this story is a political battle between two mayoral candidates, the expose done by a courageous journalist (Michael de Mesa) who happens to be Aunor's boyfriend, and a prostitution ring run by a mayoral candidate. Reviews
- Nora Aunor’s fiery emotional labor in Muling Umawit ang Puso mines the lurid and lasting legacies of social transformation in the life of a former singing diva who returns to an industry wracked by corruption. The changes in her life nourish the mental resources through which she participates in changing her society and her being woman and artist. - Patrick D. Flores, 6th Circle Citations, Young Critics Circle
- But you cannot fault Nora’s acting in the movie dahil bumalik dito ’yung husay niya sa classic movies na gaya ng Ina Ka ng Anak Mo at Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos… It’s a star vehicle for her and she carries it through with all the charisma and expertise of a first-rate actress. - Mario E. Bautista, “Bumalik ang Galing ni Nora sa Pag-arte,” Freehand
