Mojave (film)

The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 18, 2015.[3] The film was released on DirecTV Cinema on December 3, 2015, prior to opening in a limited release on January 22, 2016, by A24.[4]

Production
On March 22, 2012, it was announced that Atlas Independent is producing the film which William Monahan is set to direct on his own script, and he will also produce the film.[2] Henceforth Pictures is also producing the film, while Relativity International will co-finance.[6]
Casting
On December 4, 2012, Oscar Isaac and Jason Clarke joined the cast of the film for the lead roles.[5] On May 16, 2013, Garrett Hedlund was set to star in the film for a supporting role.[6] On July 18, 2013, Louise Bourgoin has joined the film.[9] On September 27, 2013, Walton Goggins has also joined the cast of the film.[8] On October 2, 2013, Fran Kranz has landed a role in the film, he'll play a post-production assistant to Isaac's character.[10] On March 24, 2014, Mark Wahlberg revealed that he has filmed a supporting role in the film along with Isaac and Hedlund - he told "Collider.com" that he plays a small role in the film.[7]
Filming
In March 2012, the production of the film was set to begin in August in Southern California.[2] In December 2012, the production was set again to start in early 2013.[5] On September 27, 2013, filming was underway at a location in Los Angeles and Mojave Desert.[8][11]
Post-production
On July 10, 2014, it was announced that Andrew Hewitt would be composing the music for the film.[12]
Marketing
On November 7, 2013, some images from the film were released.[11]
Release
Mojave had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 18, 2015.[3]
Distribution
On April 24, 2015, A24 Films and DirecTV Cinema confirmed they had acquired distribution rights to the film.[13] The film was released on DirecTV Cinema on December 3, 2015, prior to opening in a limited release on January 22, 2016.[14]
Critical reception
The film received mixed to negative reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 32% score, based on 41 reviews, with an average rating of 4.8/10.[15] Metacritic reports a 44 out of 100 rating based on 21 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[16]
