Michelle Bonner is a former ESPN news anchor who joined the network in March 2005[2] as an ESPNEWS anchor and occasionally anchored SportsCenter, ESPN’s flagship sports news program.[3] Bonner came to ESPN from CNN in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was a sports anchor from 2003–2005.
On May 14, 2012, the announcement came that Michelle Bonner made the decision to part ways with ESPN after seven years with the network.
Prior to CNN, Bonner was a sports anchor at Fox Sports in Los Angeles (2002–2003), the main sports anchor at Los Angeles’ KCOP-TV (1999–2002), and a sports anchor/reporter at KRIV in Houston (1997–1999).
Bonner graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in English (1994).[1] She began her broadcasting career at WCHS-TV as a news producer and fill-in sports anchor/reporter in Charleston, West Virginia,[4] and also worked in Manchester, New Hampshire, and Bangor, Maine.
A native of Marblehead, Massachusetts, Bonner won the Edward R. Murrow Award of Excellence in Journalism in 2001[5] for a feature story on Marlin Briscoe, the first black starting quarterback in the NFL. This same year she received the Associated Press Award and Golden Mike for “Best Sportscast”. In 2000, she earned an Emmy award for “Best Newscast”.[5]
