The Mewar Express (12963/12964) is a train running from Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Delhi to Udaipur City. It traverses the 744 km journey in 12 hours 20 minutes, with 16 halts in between. The erstwhile kingdom in southern Rajasthan encompassing Udaipur was called Mewar, and hence the name.
It stops at H. Nizamuddin,Ballabgarh, Mathura,Bharatpur, Bayana, Hindaun City, Shri Mahabirji, Gangapur City, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Bundi, Mandalgarh, Chanderiya, Chittorgarh, Kapasan, Mavli, Ranapratapnagar and Udaipur.
Accident
On 21 October 2009, a Mewar Express train was stopped at red light signal in mathura when a Goa Express train hit it from behind. There were 25 deaths.
