Markapuram is a town in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and also the headquarters of Markapur mandal.[3] As of 2011[update] the town had a population of 71,092.[2]

Transport
Markapuram is located on the Thokapalli - Nadayal State Highway. Railway station is 5 km from town. It is a part of the Guntur division of South Central Railway division. The railway line from Vijayawada to Guntakal passes through this station.
