Maiquetía is a city in the Vargas state of Venezuela, near Caracas. It had 87,909 people, as of 2007.
Simón Bolívar International Airport, which handles both international and domestic flights, is located in the city. Conviasa, the Venezuelan flag carrier airline, is headquartered in the city.[1]
Maiquetia was badly affected by the 1999 Vargas tragedy, in which mudslides devastated the region and caused tens of thousands of casualties.
