Looprevil Radio is the student radio station of Liverpool Students' Union and Liverpool John Moores University. The radio station is a student society and part of the L-S-U, broadcasting live through the academic year to students via the station website. The station operates live from 10am-10pm every Monday-Friday with pre-recorded material outside those hours and on weekends.[1]
History
The station was formed following a proposal in December 2010 by student, and first station manager Katie Upton, in a competition to secure £1000 funding. After her win, Looprevil Radio was formed and went live in February the following year. Since then the station has been broadcasting a variety of music and talk programming from students of Liverpool John Moores University, with their aim reflecting in their slogan "An Alternative Approach To Radio".
The station currently has up to 40 presenters, delivering shows featuring aspiring Media, English, and Journalism students amongst others. Looprevil Radio was shortlisted for the "Best New Society Award" in the "2011 L-S-U Awards".
While run as separate societies, Looprevil Radio works closely with the university student newspaper The Looprevil Press. It also uses the "Looprevil" branding (Liverpool spelt backwards) creating a single identity for the media societies of L-S-U.
Station Management
The station is run by committee members who are elected at the end of each year by its presenters. The overall station is controlled by its station manager, while the Head Of Music manages relationships between the station and the music industry. The station also has a Head Of News, who manages the news team who provide daily bulletins for the shows.
