Notes

• PKK and affiliates like the Sinjar Resistance Units are allied with the Peshmerga in the battle against ISIL, but there are tensions because the Sinjar Resistance Units aim to establish an autonomous Sinjar region within Iraqi Kurdistan, which the Kurdish Regional Government refuses.
• The Sunni insurgents of Iraq mostly attack the Iraqi Army along with ISIL, even if there are ideological and sometimes even armed conflicts between them and ISIL.
• Since October 2015 there have been ethnic conflict between Iraqi Turkmen militias in the Popular Mobilization Forces and the Peshmerga in the mainly Shia Turkmen city of Tuz Khormato.
