Lisa Heller (born April 16, 1996) is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Simsbury, Connecticut.
Early life
Heller was born in Connecticut, the first daughter of Wendy (Loeb) Heller and David Heller. She has a younger sister and brother who grew up in Simsbury with her. Heller's father is from Westport, Connecticut, and her mother is from West Hartford, Connecticut. Heller actively participated in music, as the Homecoming Game national anthem singer for Simsbury High School, the co-leader and arranger for Simsbury High School Women's A capella, member of the Simsbury choir, participator in musical productions, and was selected by audition for the national choir conference, OAKE. Heller began writing music while playing her family's piano at 14, and recorded her songs throughout her senior year at Onyx Soundlab in Manchester, Connecticut. She graduated from Simsbury High School in June 2014.
Career
Early career
Heller entered her first song into the American Songwriting Awards right after her high school graduation. During the summer of 2014, Heller co-wrote songs with Jim McGorman, current music director of Gwen Stefani and previous music director and/or guitarist for Cassadee Pope, Avril Lavigne, and Shakira. Heller flew out to Los Angeles in late August 2014 to record her first four-song EP at Sunset Sound Factory and The Sound Factory in Hollywood, California. Heller started college at Colgate University in August 2014, studying economics and music.
Fall 2014-present
The first song Heller had written, "Close Your Eyes", had been recognized in the Performance Category of the American Songwriting Awards with thousands of entrants. She received the award at the red carpet event at the Grand Central Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Heller then opened for the band, American Authors at a 96.5 TIC Acoustic Cafe Event on December 12. Heller released her first single, "Life on the Run" on April 16, her 19th birthday to online stores including iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and Amazon Music. Musicians on the single include Aaron Sterling (best known for his work with Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, and John Mayer), and Steve Fekete (best known for his work with Avril Lavigne, Five for Fighting, Cassadee Pope and Marc Broussard, and for his television appearances on The Voice, Ellen, The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Rachael Ray, The X Factor, America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent).
Heller interned at RCA Records of Sony Music for the summer of 2015. She performed at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York, New York on August 9, 2015.
