Kiara Saulters (born 25 May 1995), mononymously known as Kiiara, is a pop and alternative recording artist from Illinois.[2][3] She is currently signed to Atlantic Records. Her music is described as downcast electronic pop with bass-heavy, trap-style rap production.[4]
Early life
Kiiara grew up in Wilmington, Illinois.[5] She attended Wilmington High School where she played for the school's volleyball team.[5] While recording her breakout EP, she also worked as a hardware store clerk.[1][2]
Career
Recording under her real name, Kiara Saulters independently released an acoustic pop single in 2013 entitled "Bring Me Back".[1][6]
After being signed under Atlantic Records and changing to her stage name, Kiiara released her debut single "Gold" in June 2015.[2][7] It peaked at number five in the Australian charts where it was certified Platinum. Her debut EP, low kii savage, was released on March 22, 2016.[8][9] The official music video for "Gold", published on March 21, 2016, quickly garnered popularity and reached five million views by mid-May, 2016.[10]
"Gold" was chosen as background music of a 15-second Apple Watch commercial titled "Style" in 2015.[11] There were a range of Apple Watch ads released at a similar time all relating to different features of the watch.
Kiiara also has a SoundCloud page where she posts her songs. She often releases new songs on the site before on iTunes and Apple Music or Spotify.
