Admiral Sir Kenneth John Eaton GBE KCB FREng [1] (born 12 August 1934) is a Royal Navy officer who served as Controller of the Navy between 1989 and 1994.
Early life
Eaton was educated at Borden Grammar School and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.[2]
Eaton joined the Royal Navy and was confirmed as a Sub-lieutenant in 1957.[3] He was appointed Assistant Director of Communications Planning in 1979, Assistant Director of Command Systems in 1981, Director of Torpedoes in 1983 and Director-General of Underwater Weapons for the Navy in 1985.[4] He went on to become Commander of HM Naval Base Portsmouth in 1987 and Controller of the Navy in 1989.[4]
Later life
In retirement he became Chairman of Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Trust, the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and the Mary Rose Trust.[4] He was also honorary Rear-Admiral of the United Kingdom from 2001 to 2007.[5]
Family
In 1959 he married Sheena Buttle; they have two sons and a daughter.[2]
