James Couttet (July 18, 1921 – November 13, 1997) was a French alpine skier, world champion and Olympic medalist.

He was born in Bossons near Chamonix and died in Chamonix.

Couttet received a silver medal in the slalom and a bronze medal in the combined at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz.[1] He became a world champion in the downhill in 1938.
