International Natural Bodybuilding Association (also known as INBA) is an Australian bodybuilding, physique; figure, fitness and bikini competition business. The unincorporated association was founded by Wayne McDonald.[1][2] INBA’s Australian Head Offices are located in Victoria and NSW. INBA arranges 28 domestic competitions in 8 States and Territories of Australia.[3][4] Ron Ziemiecki is the current INBA Events Director. INBA is accredited by Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA).[5][6]

History

In 1991, Wayne McDonald established the Australian Natural Bodybuilding Federation (ANBF). During 1991-1992, the ANBF “natural” status was 12-months drug-free, later in 1995, a full five year drug-free minimum standard was introduced.[7] In 1998, INBA created the annual Natural Olympia contest. The first contest was held in Greece, Australian athletes joined 160 others at the inaugural event. Australia’s Keith Bullock, defeated all and won the amateur Natural Olympia Champion Title and a week later taking the Professional Natural Universe in Las Vegas. The INBA Natural Olympia is also unique as contest travels the globe; hosted each year in locations like Hawaii and Las Vegas. In 1999 the Australian Natural Bodybuilding Federation changed the name to the International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA).[8][9]

Competitions

A total of 28 domestic contests are organized by INBA. Competition are held in every State and Territory of Australia[10] along with other countries.[11][12]

Drug Testing Policy

INBA Australia has been an accredited member of WADA (and formerly IOC) drug testing body and the Australian Sports Anti-Drug Authority (ASADA). On 16 May 13, ASADA acknowledged INBA’s decision to ban body builders Anita Nicolaou, Marina Boutzos and Debbie Keen for use of banned substances.[13][14][15][16]
