Hailsham Community College is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Hailsham, East Sussex, England. There are currently around 1160 pupils at HCC.[1] Hailsham Community College has five buildings, a main block, science block, craft block and youth block, as well as an extensive sports hall. The sports hall is a million pounds lottery-funded building which was built in 2006.[2] The school is split up into five different houses: Torvill, Jackson, Bannister, Grey-Thompson and Redgrave (to be Simmonds, Farah, Ennis, Wiggins and Murray from September 2013).
The college has a pathway system in which select students are able to take their GCSE exams a year early.
In 2006 HCC was awarded the Sportsmark standard for its work in PE and within the wider community.[citation needed] In June 2007 it gained the Healthy Schools Gold standard, in recognition of its work to support the health and wellbeing of the students.[3]
The college became an academy on the 1st of August 2012.
