Version history
Alpha 1
GoldenEye: Source "Alpha 1" is the first release of GoldenEye: Source, and was released on December 26, 2005. This release received more than 65,000 downloads in the first 2 weeks. This release had limited content. Included in the installer were four maps, Facility, Facility Backzone, Caves, and Egyptian, but several unofficial maps were created by the community. Seven Weapons were included, the Silenced PP7, ZMG, Hunting Knife, Throwing Knife, KF7 Soviet, Auto Shotgun, and Golden Gun. The only characters included were James Bond, with several suit color skins, Oddjob, and General Ourumov.[5]
Alpha 1.1
Alpha 1.1 was a patch to the original GoldenEye: Source release and was released on January 12, 2006. It fixed several bugs that were present in Alpha 1.0, as well as added several new models and textures, such as actual ammo crate models modeled after their GoldenEye 007 counterparts to replace the Half-Life 2 ammocrate models.[5]
Beta 1
The first Beta release of GoldenEye: Source was released on December 27, 2006, with an unofficial patch created by a developer released a year later. The patch fixed some of the bugs present in the first beta version, but was not officially supported by the development team with support only available from a topic in the GoldenEye: Source forum.[6]

Some of the major changes include Rolling Explosions, Bullet Penetration, and Living Daylights, Capture the Key, and Live and Let Die gameplay scenarios.[9]
Version 4.1
Version 4.1 was released on December 11, 2010. This was the first non-beta release.[10]
Version 4.2.4
The current version, Version 4.2,[11] was released on August 3, 2012, after a year and a half of development.
