Gary Wheaton is a Canadian born American businessman and politician.

Background

Wheaton grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire. He worked in the high-tech business and served in the United States military.[1]

Political career

Wheaton is a former Republican member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from Seabrook, New Hampshire. He voluntarily resigned his seat after arrests for speeding and operating a motor vehicle after revocation or suspension of driver's license. He told reporters at the time that he feared the traffic stops happened because he is a Republican who voted against public employee collective bargaining. "Any of those stops could conceivably be police officers knowing that I'm a Republican and I'm voting against what the state police unions wanted," he said. "So there's always that chance or that possibility. I can't accuse without evidence.

Wheaton later chose to run in the special election to fill his old seat.[2]
