Emiliano Ramon Diaz (born 22 June 1982) is an Italian-born retired footballer who currently works as the assistant coach for Club Atlético River Plate in the Argentine first division with his father Ramón Díaz (head coach).[1] He holds Argentine citizenship.

Career

Emiliano was born in Naples, the Italian city where his father, the former footballer and Argentine coach Ramón Díaz, was playing (with S.S.C. Napoli). He played in the lower division of Monaco and Yokohama. He played in the first team of Avellino in Italy in 2001 but never made his debut.

In 2002 when his father was the coach he made his debut for River Plate during a game against Rosario Central on May 19, 2002. That day he replaced Eduardo Coudet. He was transferred to Talleres de Cordoba where he almost did not play. In 2004 he moved to Deportivo Colonia in Uruguay where he left a good performance. In 2005 he emigrated to the English football, more precisely at Oxford United. He came back to Argentina to play for Defensores de Belgrano, Defensa y Justicia and Platense. In 2007 he transferred to San Lorenzo de Almagro, along with his brother (Michael Diaz) and his father was assigned as head coach of the club and decided to take them both. He played the Copa Libertadores for this institution, and was widely criticized for his poor performance.

He later played for All Boys; between 2009 and 2010 and retired at the young age of 28.
