Ehrlichia ewingii is a species of rickettsiales bacteria.
Previously known to infect dogs, it has recently been associated with human infection (see Human ewingii ehrlichiosis).[1]
There is currently no serological test.[2] PCR can be used in diagnosis.[3]
The name Ehrlichia ewingii was proposed in 1992.[4]
It is classified as a member of genus Ehrlichia.[5]
The bacteria use ticks as a vector.
