The dotted grouper, Epinephelus epistictus, is a tropical marine serranid fish of the Indo-Pacific waters.
The distribution ranges form the Red Sea to South Africa, and to India, South-East Asia and Northern Australia, an up to Japan on the Pacific coast.
The dotted grouper may grow up to 70-80 cm length. It is a demersal fish found at 70-300 m depths; but nothing has been published of its biology.
