Dobřichovice is a town in Prague-West District, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic. It lies on both banks of the river Berounka, about 25 kilometres (16 mi) south-west of Prague. Dobřichovice is situated half way between Prague and Karlštejn Castle, one of the most famous landmarks in the Czech Republic. Dobřichovice has about 3,000 permanent inhabitants and several hundred temporary inhabitants (mainly from Prague) coming to spend the weekend at cottages scattered by the waterside.
The Prague–Beroun–Plzeň railway line is situated on the right bank of the Berounka river, and has a stop in Dobřichovice.
In August 2002 a significant part of Dobřichovice was flooded by the river and more than 200 houses in Dobřichovice were severely damaged up to the ground floor. The flood also destroyed a 30-year-old footbridge which has since been replaced by a new one, funded by the European Phare fund. 2012 saw the nation's highest ever recorded temperature in the town, with the heat registering 40.4 degrees celsius on 20 August.[1]
Dobřichovice was proclaimed a town by the Czech parliament in 2006.
