(CFS) was the company that originally developed the Lustre distributed file system. CFS was a privately held company with offices in the United States, and China.
CFS was founded in 2001 by Peter Braam. Customers and partners include Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, National Center for Supercomputing Applications, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, the National Nuclear Security Administration, Hewlett-Packard and Cray.
On September 12, 2007, Sun Microsystems signed an agreement to acquire CFS.[1] The acquisition was completed on October 1, 2007.
