Chislehurst School for Girls is a secondary school in Chislehurst, in outer South East London, England. It caters for pupils in academic years 7-11 and offers sixth form education.
History
Founded in 1896 as Sidcup High School,[1] which was a co-educational school located on the corner of Victoria Road,[2] it later became Sidcup County School for Girls before moving to the new purpose-built main school building in 1931, which was expanded twice during the 1950s. After World War II, it became Chislehurst and Sidcup County Grammar School for Girls and in the 1950s Chislehurst and Sidcup Girls' Grammar School with the initials CSGGS on the blazer badge. As the school was sited in Beaverwood Road the beaver was adopted as an appropriate symbol of industry and featured on the prefects' badges. When in 1982 (it was already called Beaverwood School for Girls by 1968, when it was still a grammar school), the school changed from being a grammar school to a comprehensive school the name was changed to Beaverwood School for Girls.[3] The school gained academy status on 1 March 2011. In September 2014, Beaverwood Changed its name to Chislehurst School for Girls.
