The cerebellopontine angle is a structure at the margin of the cerebellum and pons. Cerebello-pontine angle is the area of lateral cistern containing CSF, arachnoid tissue, cranial nerves, and associate vessels. contents :
- Facial nerve (CN VII)
- Vestibulocochlear nerve (CN VIII)
- Flocculus of the cerebellum
- Lateral recess of the 4th ventricle
Clinical significance
Certain tumours arise in the cerebellopontine angle. They are:
- Vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma)
- Arachnoid cyst
- Facial nerve tumour
- Lipoma
- Meningioma
