Buried Country
Buried Country is a highly regarded documentary film, book [1][2] and soundtrack.[3] It tells the story of Australian country music in the Aboriginal community, focusing on important musicians to tell the story. The book Buried Country: The Story of Aboriginal Country Music, written by Clinton Walker, was originally published by Pluto Press in 2000. The documentary was directed by Andy Nehl and written by Andy Nehl and Clinton Walker and shot by Warwick Thornton. Film Australia has produced a study guide.[4]
The soundtrack Buried Country: Original Film Soundtrack (Larrikin Records) was produced by Clinton Walker, showcasing music by the Aboriginal artists featured in the film and book.
In 2015, the book was re-published in a new updated edition by Verse Chorus Press,[5][6][7] and the 2CD album set was also re-released in a new rebooted version called Buried Country 1.5.[8] As a consequence of the success of this rebirth, Buried Country is now in development as a touring stageshow adaptation starring many of the surviving artists featured in the book, film and album.
