The 2008–09 Atlanta Hawks season was the 63rd season of the franchise, 60th in the National Basketball Association (NBA). It ended on Monday, May 11, 2009 with a loss at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second-round of the playoffs.

- On August 11, it was announced that Hawks forward Josh Smith will remain with the Hawks after the Hawks matched an offer sheet from the Memphis Grizzlies.[1] The terms have not been disclosed but it's believed that Smith gets a five-year deal worth about $58 million.
