The 12th Airborne Command and Control Squadron is a unit that flies the E-8C Joint STARS, Its parent unit is the 461st Air Control Wing.

History

Operation Ranch Hand began operations in January 1962 as Special Aerial Spray Flight of 309th Air Commando Squadron at Tan Son Nhut Air Base. In October 1966, expansion of the program led to redesignation of the flight as a separate squadron, the 12th Air Commando Squadron. The 12th ACS would soon relocate to Bien Hoa where it would remain for the remainder of the war.[2]
