The Crown is an upcoming American television drama series created and written by Peter Morgan for Netflix.[1] The show is a biographical story about the royal family of the United Kingdom.[2] The first season, scheduled to premiere on November 4, 2016,[3] will consist of 10 one-hour episodes.[4] Peter Morgan, who wrote 2006 film The Queen and recent stage play The Audience, will write the script with director Stephen Daldry also involved.[5]

Premise

The Crown, the most expensive drama ever made by the U.S. streaming company[citation needed] and its first to be made in the UK, will trace the life of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom from her wedding in 1947 to the present day. It is expected to span 60 episodes over six seasons with Claire Foy, last seen as Anne Boleyn in BBC’s Wolf Hall, playing the Queen in the early part of her reign.[6]
