PAW Patrol is a Canadian animated television series created by Keith Chapman. It first aired on August 12, 2013, on Nickelodeon in the United States and in Canada on TVOKids on August 27, 2013. The series is produced by Spin Master Entertainment in association with TVOKids and Nickelodeon, with animation provided by Guru Studio. On November 14, 2013, Nickelodeon announced that PAW Patrol had been renewed for a second season, which began airing on August 13, 2014. On June 9, 2015, Nickelodeon announced that PAW Patrol had been renewed for a third season, which began airing on November 21, 2015.[1]

Plot
A boy named Ryder leads a pack of dogs known as the "PAW Patrol." They work together on rescue missions to protect the city of Adventure Bay.

Broadcast
The first and second seasons have been sold to Nickelodeon channels in over 126 countries, including TVOKids, Knowledge Kids and City Kids in Canada.
Reception
Common Sense Media reviewer Emily Ashby gave the show a four-star rating, stating that "perhaps the show's best attribute is how it demonstrates the value of thoughtful problem-solving."[5] Stuff.co.nz reviewer Pattie Pegler also wrote favourably of the series, but stated that some of the characters "seem rather arbitrary, like Rocky the Recycling Pup."[6]
A research study, commissioned by Sky plc in March 2016, reported that 16% of surveyed British and Irish children named PAW Patrol as their favourite program.[7]
Accolades
In 2014, the series' theme song was nominated for "Outstanding Original Song – Main Title and Promo" in the 41st Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards.[8] In 2016, the season two episode "Pups Save a Mer-Pup" was nominated for "Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children" in the 43rd Annie Awards.[9] Later the same year, PAW Patrol received two nominations at the 4th Canadian Screen Awards,[10] winning one of them.[11]
