An Oligogene is major gene in oligogenic gene series. Oligogenic inheritance is controlled by a few genes responsible for major heritable changes.[1][2]
The majority of associated oligogene effect controls major gene, while minor genes play a modifiers role.
The term oligogene into the science of inheritance was introduced by Keneth Mather (1941).[3]
