Oyskhara (Russian: Ойсхара; Chechen: Ойсунгур or Ойсхар) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Gudermessky District of the Chechen Republic, Russia. Population: 9,489 (2010 Census);[1] 12,767 (2002 Census).[2]
Until 1989, it was called Novogroznensky (Russian: Новогрозненский).[3]
It was the site of fighting between Chechen Rebels and Russian soldiers in the First Chechen War.[4]
