Non-Asian Minority

Non-Asian Minority (abbreviated NAM) is an online political term used since about 2009[1] to describe people who could be called "black" or "brown"; in other words, they or their ancestors originally came from Africa, the Middle East, Southern Asia, or Oceania.[2]

Definition
The term specifically excludes white people and north-east-Asian people; i.e. originally from Europe; or from China, Japan, or Korea. The boundaries are not exactly clear; people from Vietnam, India, or Turkey may be considered "NAMs" or not.
The term was invented because the former groups are thought by some right-wing commenters to be less desirable as neighbors, community members, or workers. They also consider NAMs less desirable as immigrants to traditionally white countries.[3] East Asians, on the other hand, are often considered a model minority. In the USA, they may be more successful than whites both economically and educationally.[4]
Criticism
Critics have condemned the use of the term as racist, since it could be used to exclude members of these groups.[5]
