Growth hormone-binding protein is a carrier protein for growth hormone.
It is coded by the same gene as growth hormone receptor.
Low levels of Growth Hormone binding protein may indicate a growth hormone receptor problem, and thus a growth hormone insensitivity, rather than a growth hormone deficiency. Normal serum levels of growth hormone Binding Protein 3 may rule out growth hormone insensitivities, like those seen in Laron syndrome.
