In May 1987, the U.S. federal government agreed to provide $8.16 million of the estimated $12 million cost of building a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Orange,_Florida" class="extiw" title="w:Port Orange, Florida">Port Orange, Florida</a> bridge planned to be similar to the Granada Bridge.
